filling tranny on SA

After searching, I'm still not certain...Can I fill the SA tranny thru the shifter housing? Also, the gear box is empty of fluid. It's just got traces of oil in there. Would this cause the problem of not being able to shift? (any gear, the shifter's stuck.) Thanx.

Yes, you can fill the transmission on SA models through the shifter hole, but not FB transmissions due to their remote mounted shifter.
And if the transmission has been run awhile with no lube, it's probably shot. But yes, that could easily cause the problem you describe.

Just a note after you screw in the plug on the SIDE FILLER hole. Its a tapered thread, meaning you don't need to REAM on it to get it tight. Otherwise you'll be doing what I did, yank the starter to get a good angle on the plug to get the over-torqued little bastid out!
