Talking Fifty bucks can't get you much? Think again!

You might be asking yourself what did I get for fifty bucks... Just take a second to think about what you could get for fifty bucks for your RX-7...

Done thinking? Ok... well this is what I got for fifty bucks:

------------------Your Purchace-----------------
==One white 1982 RX7 that runs and runs with plenty of punch==

==Total: $50.00

Haha... How'd I get it? To make a long story short, my dad and I met a guy that directed us to a guy who's wife wanted to get rid of the 7 that had been sitting under a tree in the front yard for over 3 years.

How's the condition of the 7?
ENGINE: The engine runs GREAT. I cannot help but emphasise the "GREAT." I believe the compression on this 7 is VERY STRONG after I hand turned the engine and after I drove it. The engine has about 114k miles on it and I can tell it's been well taken care of: the shutter valve is plugged up and there are quality spark plug wires and plugs in it. It is also running on an expensive looking paper/metal air filter (dunno what brand or kind this is but I'll post pics after this post).
INTERIOR: Complete crap. Seats ripped (which I took out), carpet ripped, rusting steering wheel, faded panels, and other broken things. I checked the bins and I found only a few TINY spots of rust in the passenger side. Good thing I have a black 82 parts car I can rip the interior out of!
EXTERIOR: When I got it, it was COVERED in dirt, dark stuff, tree branches, leaves, more dark stuff, and even more dark stuff. It was so bad that all the crevices were filled with leaves, grass, and small twigs. I will post pictures of half the car washed and half unwashed (for the before and after effect).

Well, by now you are probably tired of reading my post so I'll wrap it up. After taking out the seats I found $4.54 in change, making the price of the car $45.46 . I hope this post doesn't sound too "braggy" because I'm sure some of you have gotten better deals than this but I just wanted to post this to express my joy in the deal and new 7 I got!

Damn you Yanks and your incredible deals. People up here in Soviet Canukistan know the value of FB/SA's.

Of course, I only paid $700 for my SA.

Do you people buying these dirt cheap RX7s get a title with them? I don't understand who would sell an old sports car so cheap, even if it is rough. dayam.

NICE NICE Deal.

the interior is not bad at all, and the exterior looks great.

And it runs great too.

Nice job

Yep! got the title and everything! Once I fix up the interior to where it's more comfy, it'll get insurance and i'll be driving it!

hmm

Well.. I'm about to get my first RX-7.. it's a '79.. or so I was told :p.. I'll check.. it may be a year or two younger.. but it's had a lot of suspension work done handles great.. it is in.. such good condition.. not a scratch.. only thing wrong is the driver seat has a few rips in it.. that's it.. just little small ones.. it has a front spoiler body kit on it with fog lights.. it's had engine work done.. it's so smooth... performance intake.. not sure about the exhaust didn't get that close a look.. i'm 6'5 and and fit in the thing, heh.. my friend who is really into RX-7's.. he's got.. 3 or so.. he says the previous owner (only 1.. he passed away.. it was his "baby" car so it was treated nicely..) may have had the engine balanced and what not.. eh.. but anyhow.. I didn't pull one penny out of my pocket for it.. just traded a 87' Jeep Cherokee 4x4... which was beat to nothing almost.. the rx-7 was worth more no doubt.. but he said he would do me this favour because he knows my sister.. of course he's got lots of money and a million cars.. so it doesn't really matter.. anyhow..it has been in storage for a year.. so he is going to fix it up and make sure everything is in hard working order.. he is a mechanic.. so he is doing me that favour for free also.. I'm going to trade him the jeep for it sometime this week when he is done working on it. Anyhow. this is my first post.. I'll probably be here a lot more looking for upgrade ideas.. I'll have to check the year.. and see if the engine was rebuilt.. or if it's from a later model.. I just gotta wait for now.. have fun looking up at the SUV's. Bye for now.

Not bad, not bad.

I'm hoping I can find deals like that when I get to Arizona. I'm gonna buy as many old cheap cars like the 1st gen, as I can find down there....and either fix them, or strip them.

Having $14,000 worth of stuff listed on Ebay isn't enough for me.....I need more!

That's nothing: I got a red 83GS last week for FREE! And I found a quarter under the driver seat. The exterior was rough, but I already fixed the dents, etc., and now I'm painting it with Rustoleum "American Heitage", cheapest lacquer at Home Depot, cherry red. It will be gorgeous when I rub it out.

Found a perfect OEM glass moonroof at the junkyard for $30. I'll hose down the interior and vac it with the shopvac and fix a couple cosmetics.

Transmission bearing howls, but I can get a used one for $75-150.

In 2 weeks this car will be cherry! In more ways than the color!

Hey I agree. Thats almost a carbon copy of how i got mine, same price. Only mines a red GSL, stock everything, and a decent interior. Just a bit of drift damage on the rear fender.// And yea, never buy a car w/o a title.-

in a six month period i bought 5 7's and my total was $212. I stuck a v8 in one and sold it quick and made over a $1000. stripped the rest down that were to far gone and sold parts on ebay and i still have two complete cars in the yard and one in the shop. i love these cars.

Looks a lot like mine when I first got it. I wish my camera wasnt broken back then. Click my sig to see my Car Domain site where Ive documented my cars rebuild.

Im sure glad I have the 130 MPH speedo though, I dont like the look of that one, especially with the "55" in the circle. Besides, I like having my 90 MPH mark in the 3 o'clock position .

Who needs a title when you can just get a bill of sale. I got mine for free and the guy wrote up a bill of sale on a piece of paper and I've been driving it since. Had no problems registering it at all..
