Talking A Few Questions For EVERYONE

Ok, here are just a few random questions that I was wondering about, and rather than submit multiple threads, I thought I'd combine them .

1. Where is a good place to find rims for a GSL (online or not)?
2. How can you check to make sure your airpump works?
3. How much would you pay for a starter from a junk yard?
4. If I have an 84 engine and an 83 car, which RB exhaust system would I buy? They have 83 all by itself and I dont know why...
5. What kind of struts do you all use and like?
6. What kind of springs do you all use and like?
7. What kind of tires do you all use and like? I live in the Seattle (RAIN!!) area, so they have to be decent in the rain, yet still nice and grippy for those rare times when it is sunny .
8. What kind of brake pads do you all use and like?
9. Anyone know of a website and/or person that I could buy car audio stuff at least semi-cheap from (namely a JBL BP1200.1 amp)?

I think thats all for now, I may come back and add more later...Thanks .

I hear hawk brake pads are excellent. You don't really need to upgrade to bigger rotors for a while if you get them.
I am selling my Audio Art reference series amp if you're interested. 200 watts RMS 400 max (although it can hang with the 650 watt amps). 0.01% distortion at 200 watts. Sounds great, but I need some $. Selling my other amp and 12" sub too.
Eibach front springs and RB rear springs seem to be a lot of peoples favorite. It is fairly cheap to make your own coil overs though. A roundy round shop can give you any spring rate you like, even up to like 650 lbs/in.

1. dunno
2. pull the hose and see if it pumps air through it
3. dunno but probably need to find out too
4. dunno again, got a 79
5. i just bought the koni's from classic garage. they are the non-adjustables but you can still adjust them. you justhave to remove the spring so you can compress them. damn good for a low low price.
6. got them off of v8kilrs parts car gsl-se. don't know what they are but they are nice. there blue if that helps.
7. i just put on the sumitomo htr that a lot of people get from tire rack cheap. did ok in the autox and haven't driven in the rain yet. the rain rating was pretty good on tire racks site.
8. no clue what these are but i want to try the carbon street from mazdatrix.
9(8). check with v8kilr

ha, trying to change numbering schemes on me eh?

i was launching at around 4-5 grand, 4 seemed best with a very slight clutch slip. the tires and clutch would battle for a second while i kept up the revs and then i was off. i'd say pretty good but this is my first rwd car, and my last comparison is a wrx which of course really isn't a comparison. i had trouble spinning my inside tire on the tight corners. i'm not sure what to contribute to the tires an what to contribute to the new springs and shocks. i'd say its adequate when compared against the bs pole positions or yok avs which i really wanted.

Obviously I didnt leave enough info for all the questions to be accuratly answered . My car will be 90% street use, and the other 10% will still be on the street, but out in the country roads where I wanna have some fun . I was looking for aftermarket rims, and the exhaust setup I was looking at was the complete exhaust system (header, pre-silencer, muffler) for a stock port engine. Hope that helps.

Neanderthol - Thanks for the amp offer, but it wont put out the power I need. The JBL is 1200x1 @ 2 Ohms, and 600x1 @ 4 Ohms. Thats RMS too. I hooked one up in my friends Civic, and we tested it to be putting out 700+ watts RMS at 4 Ohms. We took an old Power Acoustik 1000 watt (RMS) sub and wired it up at 2 Ohms and tested the amp to be putting out a little over 1300 watts at 2 Ohms (them we blew the sub ). Id say JBL under-rates their amps .

do dual sidepipes and run it rich so you have flames shouting out the side of the car.

Is it the single or the dual? The single uses your stock midpipe, so you'll need to match it according to the exhaust you have on the car. The dual is completely replaced so there is only one part number. If you are considering buying the single, I would suggest the dual.

you need the exhaust for the body that your going to use , engine does not matter unless it is ported

the defining point is the shape of the body , not the year of engine

I'll sell you my Premier amp cheap, I don't think it will quite do 1200x1 @ 2 ohms RMS though. Its rated 400x1 @ 4 ohms RMS, 750x1 @ 4 ohms peak.

If you are looking for aftermarket wheels then you are screwed. There aren't many for our odd little lug pattern. Panasports and a few others but they all cost big $$$.
As for suspension go for tokico shocks and eibach springs. haven't personally tried them but a lot of guys on this forum seem to like that combo. Later and good luck.

well, if you want to be cool like me........ then get these rims ........ http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1826476341

LATERZ.......

Oh yeah, if you do get those rims.... DO NOT PUT gorilla lug nuts on them, and then sell the car to the next person, who sells it to someone else, who decides to take the rims off, but cant cause you sold the car without the locker key THATS what pisses people like me OFF....... ..... LATERZ..........

Holy crap 1200 watts huh. Well I don't have an amp like that, but I do have a friend that works at a car stereo shop. He gets me stuff 1/2 off I couldn't get you JBL but maybe if I ask him nicely I can get you a really nice Kenwood amp at 1/2 off. That is what the shop specializes in, Kenwood.
