a few questions about steering angle
okay, ive read that it is possible to increase steering angle a few different ways. and ive attached an image here. firstly can anyone tell me what this part is called? and secondly if it were shortened slighty would it result in an increase of steering angle without any adverse effects?
like this?

there is also this, i read while searching.
anyway, can anyone help me confirm the plausability of any of this?

i had would stay away from the cp rack and pinion. It sucked!! I through it away, it had maybe 30* of angle.
Your best bet for cheap is run the stock stuff, but space the wheels out w/ either wheel spacers and long wheel studs or offset wheels below 20mm. Take your steering stops out of the knuckle and through them away. Your stoping point will be your wheels rubbing the frame. Make sure you dont have any bolts that the wheels can catch in the wheel well area. I roughly have 40* steering w/ 30mm offset wheels. I need some spacers made for the front to get me atleast another 5* degrees of steering
If you are going gc coilovers then you will need to trim your strut tower tops to allow max caster angle. You should be able to get 6-6.5* caster from this setup. U can also adjust your tension rod to get more caster. Go as far as you can leaving only 1/8 of space between the control arm and the cross member. This wheel help alot with being quick on the wheel.

Cody, that part is called the steering knuckle.
I've spoken with Billy about creating a modified steering knuckle that would increase the ratio of the steering to make it a bit "quicker". You could also modify it to give an increase in steering angle, possibly even kill two birds with one stone. Or, if you also corrected the Ackerman for lowered cars, you might get three birds.
Check out the race section of the forum, they have a drifting sub-forum with a big discussion on this very subject...

If i can sell my AR-15 in the next 2 weeks, i'll be going on a trek to do something that no FB owner has done as of yet (that i know of) Since im converting to 5 lug with TII brakes and hubs, i'll be sending off my newly aquired Hub to be modified for more steering angle. I'll then in turn, reinstall them on my FB, hopefully producing the effects that i want. I guess we'll see.
Someone buy my AR-15 (end plug)
