A Few Q's over a big problem
Well for a while i have known my rear end was gooing. Now that i am on vacation it went out yesterday. I mean i let her warm up and nabbed second. Then it vibrated a little bit. i thought oops. But it smoothed out i went to pass my friend on a his bike. And boom shake shake wamm. Sheared the drive shaft right at the back u joint. Also who ever said that the ujionts are not replacable is nuts. Any way i got a drive shaft that has more curves than reese weatherspoon. Here is my first question.
1. I pulled out the drive shaft did my tranny drain or is there a plug in there to keep the tranny from draining?
2. When replacing the driveshaft and rear end is there any big things that will come up?
3. Brakes how is the easiest way to do this?
It looks like i am putting an 83 rear end. just cause i have it i want to go lsd and disc but have not found one yet. Also where is the proportioning valve on a disc rear end?
thanks guys
JR
I will post a pic after dinner of the driveshaft.

In answer to your questions (some):
1. Jack the car up from the rear and the tranny shouldn't drain any fluid. There is no plug for it (where the driveshaft was removed at the back of the tranny)
2. Just make sure the rear flange on the new driveshaft matches the rear end. Other then that, you shouldn't worry.
3. Don't know what you looking for in this question.
