A few problems

I have an SE Ok to start off I just want to now if the brass colored screw, with the spring under it near the tps is the tps adjustment screw. I am trying to get my car to stop surging, idle at less than 1k, and not die after I start it.

My second problem is when I downshift the car squeaks. It stops when I dis-engage the clutch.

Ok the third question is: When I am driving in the upper rpm's I get a heck of a lot of smoke. It looks cool, but I don't know why it does it.

Thanks
P.S. These things are pretty fast

This sounds like it could be a bearing in the tranny if you would describe it as a squealing sound.

I don't know how much you know about rotary engines, but this sounds like your burning something other than gas. Either oil, or water/antifreeze. Some amount of smoke is normal at startup and for up to 2 minutes after startup. This is due to the way a rotary engine isn't as good at letting oil drain back to the pan like a stroker does. It sits on the rotary, and eventually seeps past the seal into the combustion area. You burn it off at startup, but after it burns off, the compression should keep the oil out of the combustion area. The smoke at higher RPMs is an advanced stage of seal deterioration, and means that sooner or later a rebuild is necessary to replace all the seals.

I don't know about the TPS sensor, if it is surging and dying, it may be because of the amount of oil in the combustion section. If you are burning too much oil, that means not enough gas, which means not enough power. What color is the smoke? If its Bluish white, or whitish blue, its oil burning. If not, then you have a fuel/air mixture problem and may need to adjust the TPS. This would be the lesser of two evils, but unfortunetly, with the older and higher mileage cars, its the seals going.

Really good TPS guide Read it thoroughly and you're bound to either solve your problem or find new ones to solve

Like it was said, the color of the smoke tells the whole story. Let us know what that is.

The smoke is white.
I know what the TPS is and its function but I was just wanting to make sure that the brass colored screw with a spring under it is the adjustment.

It could be something as simple as one of the intake manifold O-rings is letting coolant into the engine (relatively easy fix...) or it could be the engine is ready to let go because the internal seal that runs the circumference of the engine's chambers is starting to fail allowing coolant into the chambers directly. Pray it's the former and DO NOT use any stop-leak to cure this problem or you're heading into a world of hurt for real....
