few pics from the beach

was a nice day today so i thought i'd get a few pics of the Rex.... not the hottest Rx out there, but its been great for a small project and daily driver for me i've put a fair amount of work into it trying to get it back in good shape. replaced a lot of the interior and even more under the hood.

i just painted my bumpers and put on some tint, looks a lot nicer than before!

ghetto stereo install, til i get a proper DIN. this does fairly well for now tho, just cut up some plastic and mounted it in there and used a old storage bin thing from my supra.

thanks ya, tinted myself its kinda bad right now tho, still have a bunch of bubbles in it. think i may do sections again. or just get in there and cut out the bubbles and flatten more.... its 50% limo tint and i cant see **** out the back of the car now. good thing ive got my sideview mirrors working again. haha

in all honesty if you want it done properly take it to a detail shop and have it done by pro's tho. ive really yet to see a home job look good

i like the 80's cell phone style antenna, stereo install is ok until you get the right ****, at least you didn't cut up the surround, that's getto.

nice ride keep it up but you no your not suppose to tint over defrost or at least ive heared your suppose to smoke the glass instead. what ill happen if you use the defrost often is it will bubble and peal quicker.

I did the tint on my car and would say it rates with some of the detail shops. Now I did have to recut some of the pieces a few times because I screwed them up. It also helped to have a spare piece of door glass to use as a template. The hatch is what was really time consuming. Due to the compound curves, I had to cut the tint into 6" wide strips. Now a "good" detail shop can get the pieces to perfectly butt together w/o any overlaps or voids, I took the short cut and overlapped them. I might try butting them together on my next tint.

Mine was tinted by a proffesional shop a few years ago, and they tinted right across the defroster grid. Defroster still works, and the tint never bubbled up. I have no clue how many years it has been this way, but the tint is starting to show it's age.
When done correctly, there is no problem with applying tint over a defroster, other than you cannot remove it without damaging the grid 99% of the time.
