Fender Removal

Hey Everyone,

I am finally getting around to panting the 7 and have already run into an issue, Removing the front right fender.

currently all the bolts have been removed that are holding the fender, other than one, the one that is tucked behind the front right headlight cover. Now I know that the cover needs to come off but all the screws have been stripped by the previous owner. Is their an alternative way for me to attack this? or does anyone have a trick for getting these guys out?

Any help is appreciated!

At this point I would remove the entire headlight assembly. This will give you full access to the bolt there at the edge.

+1 remove the assembly so you don't damage your paint getting those screws out. Use a Grabbit or other extractor after soaking with penetrating oil, and replace with stainless screws to prevent problems in future.

They are oval-head phillips, partly countersunk, IIRC. Not a lot to grip as I remember.

So it looks like to remove the headlight assembly I would need to remove the cap? is that correct or am I attacking this the wrong way?

Remove the assembly, then remove the fender, then use penetrating oil and extractors to get the stripped screws that hold the cap on.
