Ok I have been feeling very dizzy every time I get to drive my 1984 gsl stock. The inside of the cabin has a very strong smell of raw gas when I drive the car. When I took it to a mechanic he told me that the catalytic converter was socked in gas and that the cause of this was a valve witch is located under the carburetor, but he would not tell me the name of the part (any ideas). Few descriptions, car idles perfect, it backfires when I change gears every time, and it has very good power. Can someone please help I can’t take the headaches associated with the smell PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!.

hmm... that's odd since there should be no raw gas coming out of the intake manifold...

Do you have to pass emissions? That will affect the answer to the question "what should I do"

raw gas smell maybe gas cap not on tight (this happend to me) replaced all gas lines, even droped the tank. could not find any leaks. when driving and taking right hand turns bad gas smell. Also check for exhaust leaks this causes backfires.

 

when i first got the car i had to get it smoged and it did not pass, so i took it in to a rx7 only shop/smog place and one day later got my car smoged and registerd, but i need to get rid of this smell (it may prevent me from having any jr's. in the future). how can i check if it is the (anti afterburn valve)
