Feel like giving everyone a laugh!

As some of you know of some problems I have been having. I know these cars are not very quick and I think with my problems + not very quick car = hilarious results. I decided to get a 0-60 time to see if it is even anywhere close to where it should be stock. I figured it would be probably close to 10-15 seconds, and I have to say I was very far off! I can truly say I probably have 1 of the slowest rx7's right now With a 0-60 time of 34 seconds. After the car hit 4500 rpm in 1st and 2nd it just lost all power and in 3rd gear it would not go past 4000 and 50 mph until I shifted into 4th. Now I think I have a lot of work to do lol. If anyone else feels like putting in their 0-60 times to rub it in go for it, I actually would like to see what these cars can do stock and modified.

Check your teeter-totter. Sounds like you're not getting secondaries.

I can't remember what all we've gone over in the multitude of threads. I think I initially told you "clogged cat." That and a clogged fuel filter or bad fuel pump would still be my first impressions.

Hey, at least it gets to 60. There's plenty of people on here who would be happy if their cars would just start. Plus, my car is about maxed out when it comes to a stock port N/A 12A and I still think it's sloooow. I haven't timed my 0-60 but I know it's nowhere near what my stock TII would do when I had it.

Not sure what my 79 will do as i am having some somewhat similar issues to yours. Seems mine hits a wall at about 5000-6000rpm and start stumbling. I think its overfuelling somehow. In fact, I can't even get it to 7000rpm free reving.

My old 82 though with a S4 13B swap and a Edelbrock 600 carb would manage around 7.5 seconds to 60 I think, maybe a bit slower than that. I do know that it managed to get to a 15.5 quarter mile with a bad launch. Can't remember the MPH but I know it suggested the car could do a low 15 if I knew how to launch it.

Lol Yeah Lizard I bet I am bugging a lot of people with all the posts, I have changed all fuel filters (since there were 3) and air filter. But I am wondering about another problem I will bring up in 1 of my old posts so I don't clog up this one with the same ****.

You're probably not wanting to dump more money into this car, but I would recommend getting a wideband 02 setup. It's totally worth it... it makes diagnosing problems so much easier. Plus, when you reach the point where it's ready for some mods, it's required to tune the car properly.

it sounds to me like your secondaries are not opening, just like the other poster said. i would change to mechanical secondaries or do a 13b swap. if you wanna keep you rvac secondaries make sure that the teeter totter is properly adjusted and connected. ditch the nest ( eliminates 90% of problems involving slow pickup and general engine performance) and do a direct fire ignition setup. my 82 ran like a raped ape when i did just the rats nest and direct fire. mech secondaries were my next step before i decided to start with a different chassis ( mine had issues...dont ask)

idk my 0-60x but i took my 83 to the local 1/8 mile track and i ran like a 14.2 at like 62mph or something. Only mods are direct fire, exhaust and emission delete.

Huh, should be pulling harder than that. A friend of mine had an '82 back in the day that would run consistent low 9's on the 8th. The only mods were a dual straight pipe header-back exhaust and emissions delete. Stock Nikki, stock wheels, cheap tires, and black primer. We could never figure out why that thing was so quick, really.

Wheelies doing 9's in the 1/8th? Sounds more like the quarter... from what I remember, the 5 second 8th mile cars were the ones doing wheelies.

Somethings messed up with what Drake's remembering... 14 something is a respectable 1/4 mile time for a lightly modded 83, but 62 mph sounds like the 1/8th..??

Okay 3 questions lol. Because I really do not want to spend more money in it but I know this car is worth every bit, and the more I take it out the more I want to see what this car can really do fixed up.
One = What is the wideband 02 setup how do I get this and how do I go about installing this?
Two = I never really got into mechanical secondaries much so I know nothing about them. So again, how would I go about installing this correctly. And have it explained to someone who hardly knows any of the names of these parts I am even messing with.
Three = What is the teeter totter and how do I check this?
And I will get into the direct fire sometime later on lol.

12a 0-60 should be in the range of 9.2 seconds.

13b would be 7.5 to 8.0 pending on version and mods.

Yeah Denser it seems to be fairly common, I also talked with someone at a gas station who stopped me to talk about my chevelle, he even said his neighbor has a 1st gen rx7 that has the same problem. He also said that he laughed when his neighbor first got the car but when he saw it take off down the road he said that the ****** was fast. I am just missing that fast part in my area lol.

If that doesn't help there is another thread I have of this problem that has many more people trying to help solve this problem if you like you could check it out. The name is disappointed in my rx7. I would just link it but since I am at work it takes me close to 10 minutes just to load 1 page on here.
