fd marker lights in an fb

I happen to have both my fd and my fb apart for painting. So tonight I'm putting some things back on the fd, and for the hell of it I try to put a front and a rear marker light from the fd on the fb. The mounting holes line up and the light slides into the fender within a 1/4 inch of sitting flush! Looks like minimal grinding will result in it mounting flush Though.

I'm not replacing the oem molding on my fb and I dont like how the oem marker lights stick out without the molding. The fd lights are much thinner and will solve this problem. Thought I'd pass this discovery along. When I get a set of fd lights, I will mount them and post some pics.

Just made another discovery. The base for the front (yellow) marker lights off of the fd are different than the rears. Only the base for the rear lights will work. So it looks like I'll have to get an extra set of rear marker lights and try to swap the red lenses for the yellow ones so that all four bases will be the same. If the lenses will come off it will be well worth buying an extra set of lights.

Interesting, a lot less work than filling and shaving them, like I usually do on a repaint.

I wasnt thinking about the marker light problem when I was painting the car. I should have filled and shaved them, but its too late now.

I was just thinking it would prob. be easier to just get 4 clear rear side markers, and put them on all for corners. Good idea!

$14.95 a set. Do an ebay search for rx7 lights. You will find them under clear rear side marker lights.
