fc subframe and coilovers?

I haven't posted here in a long while... After dgrr 2012 i sold my fb and ended up buying a miata. Long story short, miata is too small, my old fb is forsale and i'm buying it back. I shouldn't have ever sold it in the first place.

I'll have about $2k left over after selling the miata to make the fb how I want it.

My plans:

1. buy an fc (89 vert forsale, runs good, $900)

2. swap engine/ecu, subframe, fuel pump, from fc into fb

3. coilovers/camber plates

4. paint

5. enjoy

My question is, if i use the fc subframe can I use fc front coilovers with re-speed fb camber plates? I'm going to use tokico blues and respeed "coilovers"s for the rear.

I should add that I should be selling the miata on sunday and getting my 7 back the following monday. I'll have most of an fc, a sterling carb, a cracked but re welded 12a header, carter fuel pump, holley regulator, 12a keg with 104k miles on it for sale. I'll make a for sale add as soon as/if this all works out.

You would be better off using all FC parts if you're going the coil over route. ie: use FC coil overs, FC camber plates, FC springs etc, and just modify the strut tower (it might not even need to be at all) to accept the FC parts.

That way the whole front end is all FC - keeps it simple.

Glad to see you're back in a 7 btw

The plan was to use all fc parts but i figured actual fb camber plates bolted to fc coilovers would make install easier. I'll have the coilovers before i order camber plates so I can atleast see i'f they'll work first. thanks for the reply and i'm not actually back in a 7 yet but i'm close!

Close is good! I'm not 100% sure but I think the bolt pattern between the FB and FC Strut tower is the same, so FC parts should be close. It's worth a look at least.

^It's out by 2mm or so. you can slot the 4 holes and it will fit. All 2nd gen parts is how I'm doing it. It's been suggested to me that the 2ns gen struts will be bottomed out, but it looks ok to me.

What are you doing for the rear? RE-Speed kit?

82transam and I have been communicating about it. Just curious, as I'm avoiding it at the moment due to the parts not being readily available from them.
