Question FC seats into 82 FB

I have noticed a few first gens with second gen seats and vice versa. Is this a straight forward bolt out bolt in swap or is some fabing required. Are certain years easier than others. Are all 86-91 seat rails the same. Thanks for any ideas.

The FC seat rails are the same except for the passenger side on the trans tunnel I believe. But the FB rails will bolt right on. It's been awhile since I've done this, but I know it'll work...

just keep your rail from the first gen and bolt them onto the fc seats, there is a little bit of grinding you do have to do to get the fb rail to properly fit on the seat. but its a pretty easy swap.

Yup... Try and get TII seats - they're the cream of the crop

link to info on the swap - I switched the stock rails onto the driver's seat but left the FC rails on the passenger side... Not sure if it's important or not

I just put a TII seat in my car yesterday. Drivers only so far. I had to swap the rails over because the TII rail didn't go back far enough to be comfortable where as the original rail was fine. Bolted straight on with no mods. The seat is much better!!

I beleive with the passenger side seat you need to enlarge on hole very slightly. Oh wait, that's for right hand drive, so probably for your drivers side you'll need to mod slightly. You'll figure it out.

FC seats are a very easy fit into FB's. Use the FB rails, and it's a real piece of cake. I use to have them, and it wan't at all hard to install those. FD's on the other hand...

That was my old carpet. I have pristine Black carpet now, and fortunately, the blood hadn't soaked the padding

I love my FC seats. Mine are from a lowly GX, but they're still worlds better than the no support/slippery vinyl seats that came with my '79.

There was about 3/4 to 1 inch added to the height of my seats. Manntis can't fit behind the wheel of my car now without some fairly serious discomfort.

I've got FC seats in my '83 and my friend has some in his '81. In mine, I had to have the FB rails welded on the driver's side but the passenger side FB rails bolted right up.

On my friend's '81 both the driver's side and the passenger side seats took the FB rails just fine.

Once you've gone drifiting or taken a hard turn with your TII seats, and the bolsters hold you perfectly in place, you'll wonder how you ever held on before in your stock seats.

Thanks for all the ideas. It sounds too easy, the hard put is going to be finding some good seats that are not trashed. Any one want to trade some slightly used 82 seats?

What I wanna know is: do you end up with more leg and head room?

Nope. You just have a bit more comfort.

I'll have to get updated pics once my car is running and clean again.

Yes on comfort, no noticeable headroom - of course, when I was installing them, I also was installing my keyless entry/power locks, and actually drove it without a seat for a bit - you want to talk about headroom!

So where did you guys all score your seats from, and for how much?

One of my next steps is seats.

Overhere, non-leather FC seats would be about $100. My FD seats (non-leather) were 400 euro, somewhat like $430. Plus the retrim-material, but that wasn't neccesary as such.
You guys probable get them a lot cheaper, but well...

There's no headroom loss at all. The seats cost me about $200.
