Question FC radio in 85 GS? Can I?

Hey all,

I searched out this topic and found a few threads but nothing that anyone really ever replied to. I have a black FC radio, don't know what year, with tape deck, and equalizer. I took the mounting bracket off of my stock radio and it fit right on the FC radio. My only question is how do I wire this thing up? There are not enough plugs to fit into the back of the radio so I don't think it's going to be plug and play.

The other problem is I'm not sure if my current wiring is even useable. When I hook up the original radio and push the button to turn it on it makes a pop under the steering wheel that sounds almost like the turn signal going off. I can't get either of the radios to turn on or even give me any fuzz through the speakers. How can I start trying to pinpoint my problems with the audio??? ANY help is appreciated. Cheers!

Yep, I did it in an 84 SE using an 88 radio/cassette/equilizer. I think one wire was different. Use the FB metal casing to mount.

Gotta go now but next week I might be able to tell you which wire was different, I remember it was a power wire though.

I'm assuming the GS's didn't originally come with the equalizer on the radio, correct? Is this going to mean that I will be missing some of the required plug ins because I am dealing with a base model? Or is it still going to have all the same required wiring as an SE would??
