FC owner wants a FB

Im currently a owner of a fc that is a drag car project now and im looking for a fb daily driver which would be handed down to my daughter when she's older. How much would a fb in good running condition set me back? Also which would be a better all out drag car?The fb or fc.

An FB will set you back about $2-3K. As for your second question, the first gen might be the better drag car. Its both lighter and you can put the same power into it as an FC could have. Also, the solid rear axle might be better for drag racing.

Yeah the fb definately if your looking to drag. It is lighter than the fc and the solid rear axle in my opinion would be better to hook up at the track. the 13b and 12a are fairly easy to interchange. so in essence you could i guess have a 12a fc, which would be horribly underpowered, but more than enough for a daily driver. But I think thats a great idea a 12a in an fc for someones 1st car. But without efi you will probably have cold start issues and the usual 12a quirks that alot of people dont like. I would swap the fb axle for a ford rear end and do the five lug conversion on the front wheels then I would either use weld or centerline wheels, to handle the power, a TII tranny and then I would turbocharge it maybe a slight bit of NO2 just for the 1/4 mile's sake. but F.Y.I. if this is sounding like too much work, uh then you dont want to drag race trust me lol!

it really depends.... if you want to get serious with it and enter your car in whichever class then alot of times the FB is put on a weight restriction and you are forced to be as heavy as the other lugs out there. if you already have an FC setup for drag then keep that for it. 1st gens can generally be found in decent running condition for under 1000 bucks. nicer one's between 1 - 2000, and ofcourse mint condition even higher. just keep your eyes peeled.

lol my bro only paid $100 for his FB, it had been sitting for years. Put plugs in it, and it runs like a champ.

The FB for the drag car. And probably the daily driver for the sheer pimp factor of FBs

I paid 1000 for my GSL-SE and it has 200,000 miles on it but i mostly paid that much because it has 900ish worth of wheels and tires on it. It has fair paint and a pretty decent interior. And it's been a pretty good daily driver so far, besides the little problems it has like idling and leaky oil injectors. So, i'd say between 1000 and 1500 for a pretty nice FB that runs well.
