FB Weights...

I read in the FAQs that my GSL-SE is supposed to weigh about 2550lbs. I had some garbage that needed to be taken care of so I loaded it into my car and drove over to the dump. This was really just an excuse to weigh my car. At the dump here, they weigh your car going in and then weigh you going out, the difference in weight is obviously the garbage you had in your car, and then that's what they base the fee on. I'm assuming the scale is precise because it's a brand new facility, and they charge you per kg. Anyway, my weight going out was 1200kg.

1200 kg x 2.2 lb/kg = 2646 lbs

2646 lbs - 205 lbs (me) = 2441 lbs

I had a quarter tank of gas, so I'm not sure if the published weight of the car was with a full tank. Then again, I doubt the additional 3/4 tank would make up the 110lb difference in weight.

Regardless, I was happy to see that my car only weighs 2441 lbs, not bad for a stock GSL-SE.

The curb weight for a car is measured with full fluids (including gasoline) and no occupants. This would make it fairly simple if it weren't for options. There weren't many options available on GSL-SEs, but I don't know if the curb weight included the aircon system (which is fairly heavy) since they were a dealer install on some models. I think most OEMs build a "tracked vehicle" that includes the most popular options and use that to calculate the curb weight. Sometimes you'll see a range for curb weights.

Most of the time if you go to some of the larger truck stops in your city they will have a weigh scale you can use for $8.50 or so. I'm going to take my GSL out and weigh it.
