FB Transmission

Getting prepared for my New 12A Pinnaple Racing Motor i.e. $3700.00 later. Lots of Mods.
Purchased bunches of Transmission Stuff from Mazdatrix to include the Front Cover kit w/ new seal and gasket.

Question is do I use any kind of Sealer between the New Gasket,Cover, & Trans.
The Gasket is paper thin and the Shim Clearense is perfect. I figure if I use a Sealent it might change that, or will it leak Oil if I don't?
Thanks

I used a very thin layer of hylomar on mine, not sure if that right or not though. But no problems so far. You ARE talking about the trans front cover, not engine right?

Be careful about gasket sealer: it might squish over oil passages and harden, thus diminishing lube. If there are no oil passages you might be OK. Traditionally, mechanics used axle grease because it allowed the gasket and metal surfaces to squish around and find a good seat, and any excess grease would wash away.

Hey Carl;
Yes it's the front cover with the seal already installed from MazdaTrix.
The reason I'm lost on this one is because when I removed the orginal cover there did not appear to have any sealer on it.
The old gasket just peeled off???
Anyhew I'm gonna call MazdaTrix on Monday just to be sure.
Thanks for the info
Steve

P.S. Carl; Did the info that I faxed you awhile back on the RB Holley Set-up Help You at all.
Let me know cause I have alot of info on just about everything they sell, since I think I've purchased it all in reference to FB's.

IIRC, the front cover on my trans that I rebuilt had a really thin paper gasket ,wicich I re-used, hence the paranoia and the use of a sealant. Yea Mazdatrix would be able to answer that for sure though.

It was interesting, thank you. I hope I did thank you back when you sent it. Nothing earth shattering, but good info nonetheless.

Carl;
Yes you did the Thankyou thing!
Anyhew, I think I'll go with your suggestion on calling MazdaTrix on Monday.
They have been great in the past in answering ?'s.
Plus I've spent a fortune over the past year there , so that should help a little.
See Ya's
