FB Rear Disks?

Hey, does anyone know if any FB came with rear disk brakes? The reason I ask is because my buddy scoped an FB in a junk yard that has rear disks...the rotors are 4 lug...and he says the motor is a 12A. Could this possibly be a FC rear end? If so does that mean it would necessarily have a LSD attached to it?

Thanks for the insight,

Brendan

all the first gen gsl, and gsl-se have rear discs, AND lsd....so yeah grab it up!

disc brake lsd rears usually sell for a couple hundred bucks on the forum so offer 100 and grab it up! if it has the 12a its probably 4x110 bolt pattern same as all first gen's minus the -se which is 4x114.3

good find!

Specifically, the 81-85 GSL 12A cars had discs and LSD rearend.

The 84-85 GSL-SE was a limited edition car with a 13B,even bigger discs,lower gearing in the LSD rear,and a different/better lug pattern.

The FC(2nd gen) RX-7's all had independant rear suspension with disc brakes. Not really swappable into a 1st gen,but everyone asks anyways......

ok another question...what kind of trouble is it to replace the Drums on my 85GS with the disks on this other car (assuming it is not a -SE (since it has a 12A)). how far should I go...obviously calipers rotors...but what about lines?

Have to swap the whole rearend.
The mounting plates for the calipers and axle sheilds are different between the drum and disc rearends. You can swap the 3rd member into the drum rearend to gain the LSD,but the disc brakes cannot be adapted directly.

Dont forget the dics parking brake cables, they are different, and the fluid line(just in case).

Besides the LSD is more than worth the swap alone.
