Smile are fb power windows more reliable than manual ones?

Pretty much self explanatory, both my (manual) window regulators are jamming when I roll up or down, so I wondering if the power regulators have the same problem? If not, I can see a visit to the local salvage yard in the future!

hmmm I can't say for sure because my power windows like to slide off the track and not completely roll all the way up...

generally speaking, the manual windows experience problems to a lesser extent (in my experiences). i prefer them ...

with that said, my manual window on the driver's side needs a regulator because it likes to slide of track, too.

I can't compare the two because all four of my 1st gens had power windows.

All four were relatively slow and none of them go all the way down. About 1" sticks up above the window sill in the down position. The passenger window in my current driver went off track once. Easy fix though--- the door panel comes off in minutes.

Other than that, the only problem has been on pre-1984 window switches. Crud builds up on the rocker switch contacts and they have to be pried apart and then scrape the contacts clean--- a simple repair.

my electric windows worked really well, except if you slam the driver door too hard it pops the window out of the track

I don't think so. They seem to stick up just a tiny bit.

IIRC, Mine did, and they worked perfectly, albeit slightly slow... About as fast as the ones in my '93 Civic...

And they never popped off track, no matter how hard people slammed the doors.

Much better than the Manual windows in my current Truck... In the cold or rain they're hard as hell to wind up or down.

Windows, like most everything else on the car, need occasional maintenance. White lithium grease in the spray can, with the spray extension, works wonders for those slow windows. Manual or power.

Slipping out of track is usually due to the tracks themselves lossening or the channel gaskets are worn out.

My manual windows don't go all the way down either.

We have an 85 GSL-SE and an 85 Base.

Both sets of windows work fine. The Power windows on the -SE are a bit slower in the winter, but other than that, they seem about equal.
