are fb and fc clutch slave cylinders the same?

i just blew out my clutch slave, fluid is squirting out of it when i push the pedal big time, and i've located a used one close to home, but not sure if it will work as it is an fc one. my buddy says they are the same, im just making sure.

Actually, yours is not an FC slave. I noticed on the Mazdatrix website that they are different part numbers. Rather than chance it, I tried your stocker with my '84 master and they worked fine together; an FB matched set . I went back and picked up an FC master and it and that FC slave will go into my MG as a matched set.

This means the thread starter's question is still unanswered. I wonder if trochoid or wacky have ever mixed and matched FB and FC clutch hydralics. Someone here must have.

Well, I havent tried since 2 of my bros are parts distributor in LA. But if you can wait until next week, I will let you know. Im re-assemblying my RX-3 and I will be using a S5 tranny.

If there is a any difference, then it will be in the push rod. Thats what I would be checking.

bore size difference

GSL-SE= 15/16th
Non-SE + 86-91= 3/4.

couldent you just switch rods? or is that not possible..? if i think about it the only thing that would go wrong..would be if the actual housing of the slave would only fit the rod that was ment for it..right?

the diameter of the push rod must match the bore. you can mix-match but why? When you buy it new, it should come with a push-rod.
