Fan sound
Fan sound
Hi guys, I removed the belt from the pulley that goes to the the air conditioner(trying to gain more HP if that's possible) ..I noticed now when I'm driving, the fan is not has loud as before. The fan really sounded more powerful before..jet like suction...??
The air conditioner pulley is not seized either.
Also that means that there is only one belt, for the alternator and waterpump...is this ok...does the fan operate separately...
Any idea.
Thanks

You can have the fan operate with only one belt, from the alternator, but they make a double pulley belt to compensate. Because some people get a whining belt. BUt the reason you fan doesn't sound as strong is because the AC belt was probably drawn fairly right, leaving a little tension off the belt will make the sound of the fan go down. If you want that jet sound, just go back out and tighten the fan belt. I would recommend getting a dual pulley alt belt from racing beat or mazdatrix.

I doubt you could even tell any horsepower difference, unless you compared having your A/C on to not having it on. The a/c compressor does not draw much hp untill it is turned on. When I took my air pump off I could not tell a difference and it always spins.
Nick you be stupid, dude you still have your airpump hooked up and working your 5th&6th ports duuhhh... yes you can tell a difference i went from having everything to taking off the airpump,ACV, NO A/C belt and a highly free flowing airbox with all the junk removed and i couls tell a big difference. (stupid brother)
