Fan clutches

My SE start running hot while sitting in traffic. I inspected the fan and found the thing freewheeling. Anyway, I did not have another clutch from an SE but did have several out of 84/85 12a's. It bolted right up and other than the mounting flange being square instead of round, everything else appeared equal. Did I miss something that would explain why Mazda has two listings on this item for the 13b and 12a? Regardless, I have yet get the temp needle to move past the 7 o'clock position since the swap.

On the topic of fan clutches, it is hard to find a good one around here from a junkyard, and I have a freewheeling one also. Does anyone know of a fan clutch that can be adapted with ease to our fan blade assembly and pulley-I am talking about some other car you could find at a junkyard. I don't need a answer about using a electric fan, I don't want to use one, so do not mention that, thanks.

i think there are very minor differences, i have a big pile of them and they all bolt on the to the same water pump, same water pump as se. if you are worried about it i have an se fan clutch you can have if you want to pay shipping. check to see if the water pump listings are different, i think it is just a weird part thing. you should be all good.
p.s. get an electric fan already!, $10 from salvage, a couple wires and zip tie's and your set. less work on your motor and you will run cooler than ever. not too cold though. wire it to a toggle or thermostat in radiator.

I used to love the sound of the loud fan. Everyone always stopped to look. Now I realize that it was the look of the car that was getting their attention. Now with a Racing Beat exhaust, I love that sound even more. Now, I want to get an electric fan. Especially when it will free up more horses. Not a lot mind you, but with a 12A, every little bit helps.
