fan clutch, which year is it?

Can anyone help me identify which year RX-7 this fan clutch is for, if any (photo on the left)? I bought it on ebay as a new part for an 84/85 GSL, but it doesn't match the ones in my cars (photo on the right). Thanks!, Ray.

It might be from a 2nd gen. Even if it is, it still won't fit.

Sounds like the votes for a second gen RX7 fan clutch have it, I think I'll take it into Mazda for a positive ID and then put it on ebay, this time with the correct description. Thanks for the help, if their are any 2nd gen folks out their who can add more confirmation (or corrections) please do!

The differences between 1st gen en 2nd gen clutches are obvious, size of the mounts, and second gen clutches have long axle (clutch is futher away from the mount, a lot futher)
Mazda has always used the same design for the bi-metal, the design from the first gen type clutches was used also on the second gen clutches. That is a strip of bi-metal, NOT a spiral type bi-metal.

The picture shows no long axle so it proberly is not a second gen clutch, it has a spiral bi-metal, so it is NOT a Mazda clutch, so that why it only might be a aftermarket one.

Do not forget there where many cars with this clutch type, for example, ford mustangs

Just my 2 (euro) cents
