Talking Fair asking price for an 85 RX7

I have a chance to buy an 85 in really good shape. The body is straight and it has about 115K on it. No smoke and good power. He's asking about $5950 for it. Is this a fair price? I thought more like $4500.

This car will be a turbo project and I'm antsy to write the check and get it in my garage!

holy crap....do you have any idea what you can get for 4500? get one with turbo ALREADY DONE!. wow.....4500.

its sad to say, but the only fb that would bring 4500 stock would be a gsl-se from california wth low low kms and mint.

please before i throw up, put your checkbook away, and start looking deeper

Nicks right, that's probably a little more than twice what it's worth, and that's if it's REALLY clean.

Go to the classified section on this forum RIGHT NOW and find yourself a better deal.

Good luck.

I bought my 85 GSL-SE in November for $1500. No rust, almost perfect paint, runs fine. Not pristine, but I get complements on the street (the car that is) and the only problem I've had is a loose battery cable.

I bought a perfect minty 83 with 65,000 on it for $2500 and THAT was a bit high. Look elsewhere, you can find some awesome deals.

After reading some of these claims, it seems that people have different standards. There are good deals around but for a well-maintained car in good condition $4,500 is not unreasonable at all. These cars should be worth much more but the bad examples pull down average prices.

If you plan to make it a Project, in every case there is no need to pay the premium price for engine condition.

its unfortunate, but the reality is that first gens are cheap

i say try and find one with a nice rebuilt streetported motor, and then you can do your turbo stuff to it, and have a great running car

also very important to try and get a gsl or a gsl-se (-se is fuel injected with a bigger 13b motor), becuase these cars have limited slip differential and rear disc. you'll want that if you're going turbo

You can get my excellent condition Turbo FB for $5500 right now! 99.9% of all the work done--you wouldn't be disappointed.
