Factory rear seat or not?

I've seen some of the rear seat pics, but none like mine. Just wondering if it is aftermarket or not. It's from a 79 SA.

Also, since winter is almost here I was wondering if anyone else uses a "Favorite Coin" for cold startups.

Last Question. Do you think a widebody conversion will hide this. haha.

The favorite coin has been used alot. Are the wires broken that attach to the thermo sensor on the back of the water pump housing?

That's some nasty rust there, ouch. :-(

The coin trick, I can't remember where I heard it first but I've got a couple coins for different warmup RPMs. A nice big fat washer for initial startup, then I go to a quarter.

As for the rear seats, that doesn't look like the rear seat thats in my 79 which can be seen in this link.

Not stock. The "stock" rear seats were basically buckets you sit in, whereas that one is more of a bench seat.

It's used when the choke system is messed up, and will not hold itself out. This can be from a bad sensor in back of the water pump housing, or a bad magnet on the choke cable.

This

is why I use the coin. It holds my choke out during warmup to keep the car from stalling.

And ya, there is no way anyone can fit in those rear seats unless your 4 yrs old. With factory ones at least you get to sink into the seat a little.

I'm not 100% sure but I think my rear seat was installed by the dealer. Who else has an aftermarket rear seat and how rare are they? I havn't heard of anyone else having a rear seat like mine.

Ways, that rust will be the death of her.

The problem is that both of the wells are shot, they are entirely consumed. See how theres an inner structure and out structure? The very same problem killed my girl, she was rusted like that all through the back and turned out that her floor boards were also in the same shape. I'll link a picture, here:

Simply, repairing the first layer of metal isnt that hard. You could even cut one off another rex and put it on. The problem is the deeper layer, your inner structure.. I mean, nothings ever NOT repairable, but as Gopher from winnie the pooh would say.. "This is going to ruuun into mooney!"
