F**KING SEARCH DISABLED...Have To Ask

Anyone know of any good webistes that show converting interior colors? Or has anyone done this? Im thinking that a can of spray paint would take car of the plastics and what not, and as far as carpets go, a black carpet kit would help, but the dashboard, headliner, and door panels have me stumped...The seats would just be a matter of a few bolts (or the cheap way, seat covers) so I think i know most of it...

~T.J.

PS - Im trying to go from brown/burgandy cloth to black/charcoal/gray type colors.

Don't use regular old spray paint, it wont stick to plastic too well.

Use some that is meant for bumpers, it has a flex agent in it. There is also special vinyl dye that is meant for interiors, but that **** always peels when I use it.

I've used vinyl spray on plastic interior parts with good results. You just have to sand and clean the parts well beforehand.

You could always find one in a junk yard that still has a good interior and just get it out of that. I know it's a long shot but I have seen junk yard rex's with good interiors. I would definatly do the switch, my rex has a black interior (stock) and it is definatly the best looking interior color.

I always used SEM trim paint at work, its like $9/can tho.

When I did my sunroof swap, all I could find was a brown headliner. I painted it too with SEM paint and it worked. But for seats and carpet, I wouldnt recommend it

i've used SEM too.... i like it! i also found some spray fabric dye(can't remember the name). with carpet, just make sure you have a small hairbrush handy. when you dye it, you need to brush it through to keep it from clumping the fibers together.

most fabric spray dye will work ok, as long as its brushed. 'twas a trick i learned in an old detailing shop.... if a stain won't come out, dye it! i'd suggest trying it on a scrap of carpet first just in case. ya don't wanna go making your interior look any worse!

Use a vinyl spray paint, or one designed for plastic. This is the only way to go.

The black in my 79 is a PITA!!! It HAS to be vacumed once a week, to look decent. I have to have a NICE looking interior. In my 80 its that burgandy color, and it doesnt need to be clean for like 2 months. I hate dried leaves, mud , water, ect....ect......ect............LATERZ,
Andrew
