Extremely simple question!

Ok, wait for it, what does the tap light mean on the dash of a s2?

I take it that it means water but having just bought it and having very little knowledge, i cant for the life of me figure out where, everywhere seems more than full enough :p

The light comes on and fades away again occasionally, usually after boost (12a turbo), its not permanantly on...

Whats goin on/what do i need to do?

Cheers

P.s Please dont laugh at my ignorance

it is indeed the a water level warning light.

the sender is in the top of the radiator and the wire that comes of it is prone to fraying..

if you water levels are fine and the light is on you can unclip the senders wire and earth oput the wire that goes to the loom. this will keep the light off until you get your self a new sender.

BTW have you checked out ausrotary.com yet?? they have a good aussie forum and hold regular cruises ect.... hope to see you on there

It's for the coolant level... the sensor sits in the top of the radiator.

Are you loosing any coolant? If not, than it's possible that the sudden out flow of coolant when the reservoir system opens up is causing the level in the radiator to drop slightly. Then when the engine cools a little the vacuum draws coolant back into the radiator and the light turns off.

It's hard to say though... just keep an eye on the coolant level and check to see if there's any visible leaks in the engine bay. Also check the drivers side carpet for any coolant as this would indicate a leaky heater tap or heater core. Anyway, if you're not loosing coolant then there's probably nothing to worry about.
