Experiance w/ body kit?
Yo, this is my first post here. I have an '85 GSL. The car looks really nice, Well its really dirty now. Any way I have been thinking of going wide body. This kit looks like it dosent go too wide and compliments the natral lines of the REX (I wan't it to still look like an RX-7).
Here is what I had in mind sort of
Problem is I have never seen one or hear form any one who has. I was wondering what quality it is. does any one have any more pictures of it?
This isn't the porche look-a-like one notice the angle on the airdam. Also wondering if the airdam/bumperskin are new or add/mods.
If the pics dont work go here http://www.wickedbodies.net/generic.html?pid=239 its the yellow one in the middle of the page.E361 Wide Body Kit I would'nt use the spoiler though.
Thanks for any advice comments or help.

Hello SpottedFrog,
We're all different, and that's what makes the whole scene work, I guess. There's lots of folk out there who really like the body kits but I think they look dreadful. Mazda got it dead right when they did the body design for the RX-7 (Series 1). Nothing you add on will improve the looks of the Series 1 - as Mazda themselves found out when they put together the Series 2 etc.
....... but maybe I'm old-fashioned ???
Mines original - just like the day it was turned out of the factory, even with the complicated exhaust system. That's how it's going to stay, I hope.
Even so, whichever way it goes as long as it's right for you that's what counts.
Best wishes from Wales!

I know a lot of people don't like the wide body look. Honestly this is the only version I found that I do like. I'm still up in the air about it though. I want some more pictures of various angles to really get an understanding of the kit. It looks narrow compared to others I like that. And I like the airdam more than any other I have seen.

Yeah that would be my car. Hey thanks for posting them for me man. That T04B 60-1.15 is on it's way to your house. As far as owning this widebody kit , I love it because it isn't overly done and wide. I have adjustable spring perches for the front so that's why it looks so low. Hope the pics help even though they are old and from last summer. Wait until I can get it out this spring and take some new pics.

AdrenalifeRX7, your car looks very nice, I have seen pictures of it before but didn't know it was the same kit.
I like the medium width.
How is the airdam and bumper attached, are they one piece, is the original bumperskin wide enough?
I like your wheels to, I was thinking the same thing but with gold center, mostly because I'm trying to stress that this is an '80s car.
What's the make and model on those wheels?

Tennis, anyone
I'm not a wide body, but i'm mariah mode four. I agree
the car IS not too wide, i would say that it sits perfect
just enough all around. good job ,,man. oh,, wing + probe nawh. IMO. I can say the mariah stuff IS made very, very well. worth the bucks.

no the mariah stuff is all fibreglass. thick , rigid.
zenon is what your thinking of. IMO they don't get my vote. stick to fibreglass. i had a zenon on for a week
then pulled it. and bought the mariah. the zenon don't fit right and there soft and mushy. to make a good installation of the zenon. one has to fab some metal supports, because they sag to much for me.The mariah BOLTS on. I added rubber washers to the bolts to ' shock mount ' the fibreglass, because too rigid and 'glass will crack.

The top part of my airdam is part of the front quarter panels and it's one piece in conjuction with them. The bottom piece of the airdam extends far into under the car and under it is a metal skidplate to prevent the flat bottom part of the dam and motor from damage. I don't know the make of the wheels as they were on the car when I bought it. I am having the car painted black metallic pearl this spring if money permits and most definately I'm gonna have the black inserts of my rims painted or powdercoated gold. The kit is made from high quality fiberglass. I have a small crack on the bottom front of the air dam due to a unwanted accidental drift in the rain, lol. Long story. It's damn strong fiberglass though. About the Probe GT in the pics, I sold it.. wing and all. I also sold my ricey ways when I lost that car. Some teenage chick right down the road bought it from me last summer. About 3 months later I saw it sitting in her driveway minus the liscence plates. I talked to her one day and asked her why she wasn't driving the car. She said she blew the tranny on it. Looks like I got the best out of the car when I had it and it was good timing on my part when I sold it. Ahh memories.

Whether you like widebodies or not,.......or like the look of Mariah or not,....no one is likely to knock Mariah's quality.Thats why its expensive.
Mariah Motorsports has been around for a long time and their stuff is very tough and well shaped to the natural body lines. The fenders are just a little wide and the factory mid section line is continued into the fiberglass fenders. The airdam might be "busy",but it is true to the race airdams of the 80's IMSA cars, which is our car's primary claim to fame. The kit follows the car's lines far better than most modern body kits and their ridiculously exagerated shapes.
And its not a tack on kit, simply adding weight. The entire front skin of the car is replaced with fiberglass. The weight of the front bumper is completely eliminated. The rear fenders are partially cut out before the rear wide fenders are bonded on.Thats the down side....its permanent and not easy to do right. You have to be sure you want the look because there no going back once its on.And it cost a lot of labor to have a widebody put on correctly.Expect to spend 3-5 times more than the cost of the kit, just for labor and materials for a pro installation.
