Anybody have an exhaust porting template they want to share?

No, just open the exhaust as big as you can get it with out eating away the steel sleeve insert ! ! !

Just try to keep everything equal . . .

 

I've found a really easy way to make sure both your exhaust ports are even. Just put the housings next to eachother and put a dowel pin through them. Then just get a 90deg straight edge(you know what I mean) and move it up and down over the port. You can clearly see if they open and close at the same time or if you need to do some more porting to make them match.

Holy hell, isn't it only like 25 bucks on racing beat. Buy it and do it right. Especially if this is your first port job, (which it sounds like it is), you will probably need as much help with what the port shape should look like as possible.

Porting is not just opening it up as far as possible without overlap, it is about increasing the airflow. You would be supprised at how much a mm or two will change the airflow. If you have any chance to get to a flowbench, try to. You will be supprised.

 

Uh, yea, it is not brain surgery! Hmm the port shape is right in front of you while porting. You keep the same shape just open it up and the template is already there, called the exhaust sleeve! HA, Ha, ha ! ! !

Come on, dont make it harder than what it is, save that $25 and use it on a nice carbide bit! :-)
