exhaust sound

whats the sound supposed to be like coming out of the muffler like? no holes in my muffler or exhaust, its stock. sounds like five angry bees being shook in a jar. would like to know before i start shopping around for this replacement. 83 ltd edition,12a. also i would like to put a radio in this but the only wires i can find are the all time memory wire and the hot and ground wire. it still has the built in equalizer. cant see where to hook up my speakers. thanks for any input

It sounds like your muffler has been blown out. A 20 year old muffler will do that. I would suggest a Racing Beat or Mindtrain exhaust. It's what all first gen people rave about.

As for the radio, you don't see any wires because they used an external amplifier. You will have to run your own wires to the speakers.

i found the harness tucked behind the equalizer, but the ant. end is not typical. do they make an adapter for that type of ant.?

Hell Yeah. That sounds AWSOME.

That has got to be the best sound, other than a V8. Since my dad has the computer hooked to his kick *** stereo, I get the full sound too. Kind of reminds me of my car the first time I started it up with only a header.
i love how the rotary has a unique sound, not like all other imports.

I loved how my RB/apexi system sounded, until the rear section exploded on a backfire.

I've had exhaust leaks in both my cars (gsl-se and second gen gtu) and i like the leaky sound better haha.

I've got Apex'i planned for the second gen, but my SE sounds great with Racing Beat.

The RB muffler is perfect. Nice low rumble: almost subliminal.

well mine sounds like rice, plain and simple, like those fart cannons you hear. that has to go, soon. but drove it to work today, awesome power for a 1.1, i believe its faster than my 68 mustang with a 351w, aod. getting ready to lift it and look at the exhaust and try to get a skip thats in it, out.

yea, the car is stock, no mods. as far as the stang goes, i was just expessing my surprise of handling and speed of the rotary, im really impressed. pulled the original 289 out, dropped a 351 bored 40 over with flat tops, 4 bbl motorcraft, and crammed an automatic overdrive from an 88 crown vic up there as well. anyway i need to post another question about my radio hook-up will do this in about an hour,i need to go out and check the timing before it gets dark
