Exhaust questions

Hey got a couple questions.

Is this header for this car, or a newer car. Because I cant find any o2 wires to connect to it(should really buy a manual)

I would like to know what this is. I am guessing that its a Catalytic converter? Do i need this for it to run right or can i remove it. I'am getting new Exhaust for the car mainly because the old one was hay wired up every where, and taped together. Like how the guy tried to make it into a muffler was full of hay wire. Now to search a a good muffler. 1985 gsl se

Second pic is an RB presilencer, not a cat. Header is probably RB as well and the O2 sensor wire was probably cut off by the P/O if you can't find it.

The stock location for the o2 wire is under the rear of the intake manifold on the exhaust manifold side. (near the firewall) The racing beat presilencer has the o2 sensor several inches further from the engine than the stock manifold. They have a longer wire that connects the o2 sensor.

If you keep the header, you will want to use a presilencer even with a muffler or it will be very loud. That racing beat presilencer you have should be a`straight through design.

Hey thanks For the responses! Yes that is a staight through design. The smaller pipe must be for emssions then. I guess I will repair the studs and keep it in the car then. Shouldnt really effect performance.

the smaller pipe is to help keep down the noise and to actviate your aux ports (5th and 6th ports) bc they poerate on back pressure 3-4 psi. its not for emissions by any means what so ever
