Exhaust question

As you might have seen in my other post, i am installing a series 13B na with street port and weber 48ida

I have the racing beat header (2 into 2) and plan on following a similar system to the pic attached ie run 2 seperate pipes all the way to back and join into one before entering rear box

my question is : what are contained in these boxes ? I've heard that rotaries push out so much pressure (especially here given ida and porting) and so using normal fibre filled boxes will not last. I've been recommended to use stainless steel filled boxes. Can anyone advise or tell me whats in these racing beat boxes ?

thanks

Any packing in the mufflers and silencers "must be steel". Fibre packing will burn up in no time.

It's the heat that burns out the fiberglass packing. There are some aftermarket ones that have stainless steel wool packing, those are the ones you want. RB's will last a long time.

YA RB even makes the stainless steel ones, i was looking into them. Btw, im just going to buy the header for 100 bucks, the unwelded one, do my own job, and it will only cost me like 115 bucks instiead of 230

ok, 'nuff said.

So my recommendations were correct

fibre packed are no good for rotaries

have to be steel packed

i take it that RB's are steel packed ? ie the pre silencers and rear silencer ?

Ya if you go to www.racingbeat.com and search exhaust components, they will tell you if they are steel or not. For what ive seen, they are all steel.
