Exhaust Overheating?

I have a question, if the car is on and sitting in one spot, do the exhaust overheat?

Depends on the exhaust. If it's stock, it may be a clogged cat after all.

oh I think is stock cause this entire car suppost to be stock. Well, i didn't pass the emission test maybe it can be that. Also I can hear the rotory sound pretty loud were the cat is. Dose that mean anything?

When it sits there and I gas it it sound like if it want to turn off but it dosen't turn off. Sometimes it even smoke out from there dark + white spoke and sometimes it dosen't I try to gas it a few times to see if it clears out and it dose sometimes but still feels the same.

P.S. How can I stop ny Exhaust from Overheating?

Hot exhaust foiles my wallet. I've blown two mufflers in the month or so I've had the car. I guess I'll have to go get a $200+ racing beat. *sigh*

Monza sucks.

I run an apexi n1 copy off ebay. The muffler holds up fine, doesn't quiet worth a **** unless the silencer is in, but it takes the heat. For an n/a car, you shouldn't notice a difference in performance with the silencer in, and it is plenty quiet. With the silencer out it's loud as ****. My ears ring after driving on the highway. Now I wear earplugs when I drive

$200 really isn't bad for an exhaust system.

A good stainless steel Magnaflow works nice. You need to run a presilencer in front of it if you are running headers as it may be a little too loud. Preformance Peddlers on Ebay sells them for $120 or so.

Oh yea almost forgot to say that my Exhaust Overheating light is still on. When I got home today evening is kind of chilly out side. So I when to warm up the car so I can take a ride up to the market on it. As soon as I turn it on the darn light was on. Whats the problem guys with that?

Also I notices the car was kind of coufting when driving hmmm.... could be that darn Cat screw up or something.

It means that, well, your exhaust is overheating. If you unclog, or replace, the catalytic converter, it SHOULD go off. If not, start checking the rest of your exhaust system. Also, check the sensor. I beleive it is under the passenger seat? I'm wrong though, let someone else clarify on that one.

There is no way that I know of, short of hollowing them out, but then say bye bye to their abilities to make you pass emissions.
