exhaust gas temp. sensor?

For you guys with custom exhaust or RB systems - is the exhaust gas temperature sensor still used? And does anyone know what it is used for? (Engine up to temp. for choke, etc.)

thanks

it is used to control emissions. if you aren't using emissions anymore then i would suggest hooking it up to a guage.

pretty sure it's no O2 sensor. it's mounted just behind the cat. section in the front of the collector pipe between the cat. section and muffler.

Yeah, you're right. On my car, there is a dummy light if the exhaust gets too hot. What does it do emissions wise?

Its just an exhaust temp gauge, not emissions control (i THINK).

Mine is just twistied to the bottom of my car, cause i have the racing beat exhaust.

No problems whatsoever (as the car is so old, they usually dont work regardless, unplugggin didnt make much dif)
