exhaust configuration

Trying to figure out the best exhaust configuration for my stock '85 GSL, and would like advice from the experts. Being in California, I want to keep it as emission legal as possible, with max performance. So here's what I have so far: Bönez Performance Converter Exhaust System from Rotary Performance and Racing Beat MUFFLER POWER PULSE from Madzatrix. Now, here's the other thing. The current setup is pre-cats bolted on one end to the exhaust manifold and on the other end bolted to a 10" long pipe that is wielded to the main cat, and then one connecting pipe (looks like 2 1/2, maybe 3") that is wielded to the main cat in one end and the muffler on the other. If I want to get the above mentioned aftermarket components, would it be best to get a connecting pipe that bolts to the main cat in one end and to the muffler pipe on the other? the current connecting pipe is not in any great shape and is all rusted and ****, so wouldn't break my heart to replace it anyways. So the last question would be, what is the best place to get such connecting pipe?

set it up using a cat after the down pipe in the middle then a converter, a presilencer, then the muffler. connect these to a header from racing beat. ebay is the best place for this or bargain with someone. go with all new piping and if you can, bolt it together with flanges. it makes for easy replacing when the rotary destroys the piping. or go stainless and weld it. this is just my own personal advice. i know someone who affixes their exhaust with chains and swears by it. it does work by the way.
