Exhaust

I've been trying to figure out which exhaust part would benefit my 84 rx-7 the most. I've been trying to decide between the rx7.com RP performance muffler or the racingbeat.com power pulse muffler

Are these considered cat-back?
Are these "high flow"?

Any help, comments, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Yes both are considered cat back systems. As for “high flow”…..they’ll flow better than stock, but they’re certainly not straight through. I think you’ll find the forum consensus on a good streetable muffler will be the RB unit. Beside it’s less than the RP muffler.

Oh ok, thank you. Do you know of any other exhaust parts that would benefit performance and sound that isn't an excessive amount of money? ($500 limit for me)

Yeah that’ll work, but not if he needs to be emissions legal. Check out the mazdatrix.com site. They have a cat that will mount to the RB header and Power Pulse muffler, but it will blow your $500 budget out of the water. The other option is an aftermarket high flow cat. But there aren’t many that can take the heat a rotary generates.

Save your money, do it right, and just get the full RB exhaust. Save yourself the time and headaches later and go with the complete system.

Not that we know he needs one/them, but RB doesn't make a complete system with a cat. Skizzle, if you don't need the cats get the RB system it's the best out there, but if you need'em.........well you have some options.

I say keep the stock exhaust from the cat-back to the manifold. Slap it on for emissions.

Can't be too diffucult.

Ok, thanks for all this help. I was doing some minor things today and realized the bottom of the muffler and around the muffler tips are rusting and looking pretty crappy. Could I simply just by the racingbeat power pulse muffler, or do I need to by stuff with it to make it fit correctly?
