Euro clear/orange front turn lens?

I saw on a site a while ago about an option for rx-7, i think standard in the UK of the half clear, half orange front turn signals. I was wodering if anyone has a picture or information about hem, and if anybody has some for sale... Thanks

Mine is an Aust-assembled one so it has the half-clear, half-orange turn signals. Don't have any pictures handy, but I can get them for you if you want. Should be able to still buy them new from Mazda I would imagine.

The mountings are the same, the only difference is the lens. Have you priced them through Mazda? Why get scratched, faded second-hand ones when you can get new ones?

No, actually the buckets are different also. The solid color lenses use a single bulb. There is no hole to mount a second bulb, and the metal divider inside the bucket is absent. You could probably modify the single bulb bucket if necessary. The inside of the bucket does have the same grooves which hold the metal divider. The electrical connectors are compatible.

Frankenrex, on that page it mentions something about additional wiring and socket. Can you elaborate what you mean by that? IIRC, they can plug in the same connectors as the solid amber lights, and retain their same functions. Also, on UK models the fenders have protruding round amber side marker lights, mounted half-way back on the fender (wing).

What's the point of having them? What are city lights?

Are they a safety feature or something?

Sure plenty of junk yards, but none of them have cars that were made for the UK car market.

Same as was mentioned above by cosmicbang - it's a whole assembly. You could probably modify a US bucket to work by adding a hole for the city light and fabricating the metal divider. I'm pretty sure that the slots for the divider, and a blank spot for the city light socket are there in the US bucket - they are on my '79.
As far as wiring, it probably plugs into the same connector as the regular park/turn lights. The city light comes on with the park lights.

I got mine in the UK, many years ago. They are not that complicated; it's probably easy enough to make the lenses and modify the bucket yourself. Otherwise they are easy to find anywhere outside North America.

I made my own from scratch. added another bulb per side along with a piece to seperate the turning bulb from the steady burning ' city lamp '. it would be real easy to make day-time running lights. they don't really do much but there kinda neat to have.. i cut out the square area in the orange lens and used 2 white dome light lenes, cut square to fit and glued to the orange lens. the housing needs to be drilled for the extra bulb.
it's important that when the turn signal is blinking that white/clear lens don't blink, so it looks right... if anybodys interested i can produce just the lenes for a slight fee.

If someone from Australia can get a bunch of them, he can make some money. I can help distribute them once they get to the states!

Flourescent light diffusers, sold at any Home Despot or equivalent, might may a good clear insert (for clear taillights, too.) Don't know how well they'd hold up to weather/sunlight/etc., but a whole 18 x 48 panel is, what, $10?

The part numbers are

FA16-51-061A

they are not available in the US or through any US Mazda Dealer.

I have a friend in Russia who is getting me a set @ $40.00 per side.
After i get them and check fitment i will post pics.
