Unhappy Engine won't idle and has no power

My son's '85 RX7 GSL (180,000 miles) became hard to start and would not develop any power. He took the car to a Mazda dealer where he was told the engine had no compression and thus, needed a new engine. Since the dealer did not seem interested in working on this car, I decided to rebuild the egine myself. I replaced both rotor housings, all of the rotor seals, new bearings, etc. The side housings measured OK. The old rotor housings were scored around the exhaust ports. The original rotor seals looked pretty good but I still replaced them. I did not rebuild the carburetor, but did remove the cover to remove some rust particles and blow out the jets with carb cleaner. All spark plugs are firing but the spark appears somewhat yellow instead of blue white. Both coils have been replaced with Accel units. All of the vacuum hoses were replaced during the rebuild. Any suggestions as to what to look at next? I'm running out of ideas.
