engine swap

I am going to replace an 85 12a with an 81-83 12a 6-port. I noticed the flywheel was a little different along with the clutch. I want to use my original tranny. Will I need to swap flywheels to make this work? I already have a new clutch kit for the 85, so will I just have to get one for the 81-83 flywheel. Has nayone sone something like this? I was told that everything would switch over bur like I said the flywheels and clutches are a little different.
Thanks,
Todd

Finding info on a 12a 6 port is gonna be tough, its a rare engine. Your gonna have to find out exactly what year it is cause 83 is when they went to the bigger clutch.

It must be an 82 or earlier because the clutch doesn't look as heavy and diameter a few mm smaller. It also doesn't have the alignment pins like the 85 has on the flywheel. You don't think it work swapping flywheels or would I run into trouble? Is there anywhere I can check the serial # on the engine for year?
