Engine Rebuild Thoughts...
Ok, so as some of you know, Ive been looking for a running parts car, or a decent 7 to enjoy. However, lately Ive been giving thought into rebuilding/porting my own engine.
Ive been out of the game for a while, but I just stumbled upon JHB's Cermet housings and they seem interesting.
The main thing holding me back from rebuilding one of the numerous motors I have laying around was lack of good housings due to flaking. If this company can provide a good housing at a cost less than new from Mazda, then it seems like a reasonable thing.
So, reading their website I see that they will do custom housings and so on. I was thinking about porting some of my housings, then sending them to them to have them coated. Is that how it works? Or, I can order stock housings from them done already, then send them my old ones for the core, right? Id like to have the porting done though, so Im sure I wouldnt ever get the stock ones, just curious.
I did a little searching and reading here, and I was getting mixed reviews on them, but I think I might be willing to give them a shot. Anyone have first hand experience with them?
My other question then would be, where are you getting your rebuild kits from? Who's still in the game with good prices? Military discounts? Haha. Thanks in advance guys!

When I was doing my rebuild I talked to them about redueing a set of my housings and they didnt seem like they really wanted to coat the 12A housings but that was over 1 1/2 years ago.

Yeah, they have a comment on their website about contacting them before ordering 12A housings. They probably don't want to do it, haha.
Also, after reading more in the GG/BG forum, Im not sure Im willing to let my housings get lost, show up with gouges still in them, etc. Not to mention Kevin (of rotary resurrection) found many of their housings to be bad.
Its too bad to see a company that could so greatly help our community with such a bad track record.
I guess its time to start saving more money...
