Engine rebuild questions

Alright well, I've been too busy for too long to really learn all that I want to learn about rotaries. Someone I'm very close to used to build rotaries for a living, but the catch is he hasn't built them (aside from one or two on his own vehicles) for about 9 years.

Back in the day he used all Mazda parts, his drag car was around 640rwhp. Out of my own curiousity, I just want to ask would that still be the way to go or would you guys recommend going aftermarket. And if so, who?

I have a 85 gsl-se, we've thought about using some cosmo housings he has w/ single turbo setup. I'd really appreciate your opinions, as technology comes a long way in that amount of time.

Thank you,
Keith.

If your firend rebuilt rotaries, especially race engines, he should know plenty, even if it was twenty years ago. You need to ask specific questions and what you your goals are if you want to tap into the brain trust on this site. Many years od experience and knowledge on here, more than I'll ever have, but they get annoyed with vague, general questions. Good luck .
