Seems like this question almost comes up daily. There is alot of factors, are you going to be doing the work yourself? What extent of a rebuild are you planning to do, and how much money you want to spend, and how much down time you can afford.

I would say an adverage rebuild would cost 1200 + ish (note all OEM (costs more), and leaving a money cushion if something comes up/happens and requires replacement), if you are doing all of your own work, and all the parts are within the specifications.

To give you some perspective my engine build probally costed around 4000-5000 dollars, rebuild kit, new oil pump, new rotors, all new bearings, lapped irons, streetported intake and exhaust ports. That was with me doing all the work myself.

$799 for the rebuild kit from atkins racing and then what ever the person charges to put the engine together hopefully the person in your area is willing to do everything for you the guy in my area wanted me to take out the motor and charge me exactly what he was going to charge me for him doing everything. he changed his mind on what he wanted to do at the last minute needless to say i did a motor swap instead myself

where'd you get 799? they don't have a kit listed for that price, and it's atkins rotary, not atkins racing...

83-85 rebuild kit C = 920

Still cheaper than RB or mazdatrix, but still not cheap!
