engine missing at idle and deceleration

i have a 1984 gsl. the problem is that at idle and with the choke on the engine starts to miss and chug a lot. this will happen through out the drive and will not cease. while accelerating i do not feel the engine miss at all. when letting out the gas i can feel it miss. i have changed the cap and rotor and a set of new plugs. any one know the solution?

yeah like they said check the easy stuff first. Plugs, wires, and timing. They're really simple to get right if they're fouled. Also, check your choke mechanism over really well...if it's sticking then it'll give you problems. Make sure none of the manifold bolts of carb bolts are loose, check for vacuum leaks. If none of this helps you may want to have your carb rebuilt.

I always think it's hilarious when somepne says their engine is missing under certain circumstances...first thing that pops into my mind is "It's big, heavy, and bolted down. How hard can it be to find?"
