engine flooded help!

I have a 12a with stock setup that is flooded, what is the best way to clear out the gas? I realise what could be wrong with the carb and how to fix it but I need some ideas on how to get it started. I have already pulled the plugs and tried to bring it to life with nothing more than a sputtering idle for no longer than 15 seconds. Any suggestions would be great! A rebuilt carb is on the way. thanks

if you are able to start it for only a few seconds you say, than you may not be flooding, you may want to make real sure that all the hoses are snug,,,i had the same trouble starting mine till i noticed the large hose on the left rear of carb wasnt snug,,,good luck,,,,,

I agree a flooded rotor will usally fix itself if you get it to start. I always prim the carb with a little motor oil and tow them @10 mph drop the clutch in third and drag til it starts. Of course Emergencies only I'm not sure if it's bad for the motor but I don't think so not "real bad" anyway.if this works when it does start you'll probably have to to get in the throttle a little tilll you clear it out. An it's gonna smoke!ALOT! .Hasn't let me down yet.

How long have you had the car? Are the plugs in good shape? I noticed that you are new to the forum and wasn't sure how long you have had the car. I would check and replace the plugs if nessasary if the car is new to you if it continues to have problems and look in the carb when it dies and see if you see fuel pooling up in side of it. I have a friend that had the same problem and it was bad needle valves in the carb.

thanks

thanks for all the advice. I have had the car for a while and am quite familiar with it. the hoses are all fine and snug it most likely is the fact that it's minus 15 degrees celcius where I am. I just thought there might be a trick about these rotary fellows that I have not come across. will try the push start today.
