carefull painting those tings, you just cut your cooling ability by about 25% by adding a coat of paint, but you should be ok. Autozone, Pep Boys, and Advanced auto parts all sell engine dress kits for about $40. They are braded wire that slides over your hoses then you crimp "terminals" on the end of the hoses. I plan on doing this soon as well. good luck, and by where come the cash flow?

haha cash flow comes from knocking out a **** load of bills...and getting a raise....im a marine so i just got promoted so im making more a month now.....just trying to get the car in solid running condition..and looking sharp
also ive already looked at the autozone dress kit but i really didnt like them b/c they are only sold in sets of 4 different diameters....and they arent that clean of an install b/c the braid will be cut and strart to fray at the ends....so im no too sure i want to go that route

Painting is good, but where ever you have aluminum just polish it and clear coat it. I am in the middle of an engine bay clean up. Here is an old picture, currently I have moved a few things in the engine bay. I polished a bunch of lines along the fire wall. I even polshed steel. (takes VERY long, and doesn't turn out as good as aluminum)

Yeah man... Took the grinder to it, and it came right off!! Polishing it after didn't take very long. Makes it look newer, guys at meets always think its some crazy intake manifold....
I also bought a '88 alternator and massaged it and polished it up, it make the one in the picture look like ***!
I need to redo the air pump and the AFM needs the treatment aswell.
Here is another pic of the manifold, That pic was taken b4 it was totally finished.

well ill use some brasso to polish the aluminum...but what can i use to make the rubber lines look newer...i was thinking of using wd-40 and some motor oil over the lines ti brighten them up...but id rather get some steel braid sleeves to wrap around them to make them look a lot cleaner....also is that an autozone kit that u bought for the upper radiator hose?

To make the rubber lines look new, just use 303 protectant and scrub it on with a paint brush. Let it sit and then wipe it, the hoses look nice and new. Don't use Armor All or anything oil based, because you will get discoloration over time.

Interesting thread, mind if we add....tips on cleaning the engine bay in general; like wha to use on what? I've got a dirty engine bay and want to make it look like new, but i have no idea what products to buy or even where to begin.

To clean the engine bay, use Castrol Degreaser and srub it in with a long handle painters brush to get in the hard to reach locations. Then just spray it down. Don't spray any of the engine electonics.

After spraying it down, if you have a compressor, blow as much of the water off as possible. It helps you get into the tight spots. I personally, hate the braided kits at Kragen. They suck.... Here is a pic of my alternative. If I can remember the name of the place, ill post it. I think I have the receipt at home.

It is a nylon braid, I really like the outcome. THey use it alot in Hot Rods. That is how I came accross it. I typed, "Hot Rod Engine Dressing".....

Thank You! I like it as well. Zip tie it to hold it in place, then cut it with a hot knife.
Robert at RotarySahck told me to use a thin wire to tie around the ends, so I got rid of all the blue zip ties..... Looks much better.
I bought it at Made For You Products. Look it up on the net. It is called The Hot Rod Trick Kit.....
You can also buy similar at Fry's Electronics.

An easy way to make all the plastic shine like new? I just spray the whole engine (except for the belts) with whatever tire shine spray I have around. Let it sit, then admire. No wiping necessary. Helps to preserve everything too. Takes about 37 seconds to do.
