engine cleaning yields woes
how long can i make it with my front housing leaking oil at the seam. it has been leaking for at least a year but i didn't know until i cleaned my engine....so my question is how long can i drive it like this? i rarely drive it in a spirited manor and i try to shift at about 4k rpms. engine has approx 152k miles on it and im not sure of how badly the previous owner treated it but if it matches the suspension damage that was on it when i bought it......
i know i need a rebuild to correct this problem so am i going to damage the internals or the housings/irons if i continue to drive it like this? it is a fairly good leak...if i park at a store i can come out and see about a 50 cent piece sized puddle of oil under the car when i come out but after it reaches that size it usually doesn't get any bigger. is this caused by the oil cooling and becoming too thick to seep through through the crack?
any help would be appreciated on this subject not quite ready to do the rebuild just yet but would like the info before hand so i know what im looking at.
