Electrical prob

I have a problem with the electrical of my car, when ever a certain amount of draw is introduced into the system the car shuts off. It shuts off the same way as when I hit the switch for the fuel pump. Now my amp guage is showing a little under 12v when the car is idleing with no electrics on non at all, no fan, radio, or lights, If I decide hey lets turn on the fan, I turn the **** once, no prob, slow fan speed right? not much power being used there, turn it one more click and the motor start to act funny, surgeing you could say, then if you turn it any more it will either stay running a bit or it will die. The same goes for any thing else on the car. I'm leaning towards the Alt. myself but I'm wondering if its a possibility of anything else.

Ruled out Alt

I tested the car with the battery charger on and it still died when I turned something on, so its a major draw....but where?

Check your cables. Make sure the battery cable ends are not corroded. Next check the alternator cables and make sure there is no corrosion their either. Dont forget the ground cable too, Both to the motor and to the frame.
