Electrical help needed, Where do these connect to???

Hey guys,
I have a TON of electrical problems on my hand and I am overwhelmed at the time being. The electrical in the car is acting wierd. The exterior lights and the instrument cluster especially.

As the car sits, when I turn the head light switch so that the dash illuminates, both single lights light up constantly (don't blink) as well as the stop light warning lamp. When the switch is off, if I press the brake pedal the illumination all turns on for some reason... WTF???

I have a few pictures of connectors that I have no idea where they goto, maybe they could be the reason for my problems???

The first picture here shows a connector behind the dash on the drivers side... Any ideas what this hooks up to?

The second picture shows in the engine bay, drivers side beside the brake booster and master cylinder. Is there supposed to be 3 connectors that goto nothing?

Picture 3 shows a solenoid that I think is the flasher unit??? This unit was DAMN hot when I touched it, so I assume something is wrong there...

Picture 4 shows a connector by the gas pedal with 4 prongs, I have no clue where it goes...

I already have the wiring diagrams all printed out, but alot of them seem to be of no help...

If anyone has pictures of behind there dash, or under there dash I would REALLY REALLY appreciate it if you posted them. I labeled all the connections, took pictures of all the stuff before I took it appart, and im still having troubles..

Thanks so much!

but im welling to bet that its the ground lol that is the problem for alot of things a few good ground wont ever hurt you

Now im confused, you said this connector plugs into the flasher behind the fusebox? But the connector is connected past the rubber grommet on the engine bay side. Therefore I don't see how it would double back to goto the flasher unit. Is it possible it is supposed to be hooked upto something in the engine bay?

But I can tell you my signal lights weren't flashing before, so this could be part of the solution!

I found a ton of connectors on my car that supposedly hook to nothing at all.

Still haven't found out what most of 'em do. Even removed some of them.

Ahh! That explains why I couldn't figure out where the hell it connected! Thanks! Still need to make sure the others are supposed to be unhooked though.

Second pic is hot start motor (1 way), diode for a/t overdive cancel (2 way), can't find 4 way though.

Please provide a clearer picture showing wire colour.

If that 'flasher unit' is 'damn hot' then it is grounding out and is probably your problem.

It's touches the brake pedal arm. It's what turns on the brake lights when you brake.

So that would explain why I am having all these stop light problems... I am going to have to take some more pictures to show you what I have hooked up at the top of the brake pedal arm, but I believe its 2 smaller connectors... lol about the oilers vs Detroit! Thanks again so much for the help!

Since I'm working from the FSM I'll need to see the connector type (2 way, 4way, etc) and the wire colours.

Or maybe I can crawl under the dash of my car and take a look....

I just took a look at the parts car (85 SE). There are three similar connectors on the same wiring harness. The white connector goes to another white connector. The blue connector connects to the brake switch closest to the floor. The black connector sits on the same brake switch above the the blue connector.

Ok so I finally got the car running today!

The electrical problems that I have remaining are: Tach not working... (but trailing ignition is so wtf...), power window fuse keeps blowing, turn signals not working.

But the brake lights are now working, I had the 2 connectors on the brake pedal arm reversed, so now the dash lights don't light up when I press the brakes.

I still have no clue where that 4 prong connector by the gas pedal goes to though? Remember this is all the electrical from a GSL into a GSL-SE, although I don't really think its alot different...
