electrical gremlins

well my bro paalo just got his new fb today. everything worked great friday when we went to check it out, but when we went to pick it up toiday it wouldnt start, so we push started it and drove it home.
tested the starter and it was bad so we went and got another one from autozone for free because the previous owner got a lifetime warranty one.
the new one makes a loud *** screeching noise so i assume its a pos. crappiest starter ive ever seen as far as remans go. took it back off and looked at the gears, they looked fine.
anyone else get a screeching starter?
also the battery cables are shot i think. he just got a new battery today and when you connect the battery cables it doesnt even spark.
anyone wanna help here?
oh yeah the electric windows stopped workin too
all fuses are ok

I got a great deal.

I love her anyway.

Probably just bad battery wires not sending enough juice anywhere or grounding properly.

We're replacing those tomorrow and putting in another new starter. If that doesn't fix her, I'll be back here whining.

My dads starter does that on his SA... But then again, it allways has, at least as long as i can remember. On the bright side, if its loud as hell, at least you know its working.

compare the new starter to the old . I had the same problem on my 84 and the teeth on the starter were smaller than the orig and the engage point was about 1/8" different so it wasnt contacting corectly.

the power windows are always a problem on our cars there are adjustments you can make but I just put manual windows in mine

It is a good idea to replace the 20 yr old wires for the get brittle and cracked , I replaced all of my heavy wires with 4-8 ga stereo system (stinger) wire

congrats

peace
