Electrical : fuse keeps blowing.

I am having an issue; every time i turn my lights on, the fuse for the running lights keeps blowing. Is there any known issue or do I just need to go over all of my wiring?

Which fuse specifically? Does it blow if you put the switch in parking lights instead of headlights?

Did you plug the red/blue and Black wires in the center console together? Does your dimmer switch still work?

I found one of my bulbs in my running light when I had that problem., the connector had fallen apart and the metal was touching the frame.

Remove your driver side storage bin. Find the 21 pin connector X-06 shown in the diagram. Unplug that connector and all rear lights will be disconnected from the circuit.
If the fuse does not burn out and the front parking and marker lights are working, there is a short somewhere in the rear tail lights, marker lights or wiring. If the fuse burns out, leave X-06 unplugged. Find the front marker light plugs and the parking light plugs. Marker plugs are white with terminals in the shape of a T and are attached to the back of the retractor motor frame. Black and Red/green wires. Parking lights are under the overflow bottle against the radiator support. There is a square opening under the radiator support where the wires pass through. The plugs are large black plugs with 3 "wings" on each end. The retractor motor plug is also under the overflow bottle with 4 "wings". Make sure you find the right ones. Try the fuse again. If the fuse still burns out, unplug the 2 storage compartment lights and the glovebox light. If the fuse still burns out, the problem is in the wiring or the combo switch. If it doesn"t burn out, start re-connecting the lights. Check the fuse after each light to see which one causes the fuse to burn out.

This seems to be a common problem. I've had it on 2 cars. The first time (early VIN 79) I replaced the entire wiring harness. It fixed the problem. The second time (1980) occurred after I did an interior swap. I just took the dash out and reinstalled it. Fixed the problem.

I suspect the problem on both to be related to the wiring behind the radio shorting. Make sure the plug that connects to the back side of the DIN pocket is in correctly.
